-
- Yes the original question was ABOUT the differing speeds. I guess I really
- wnted to know if having
- 1. such extreme differences in the two speeds
-
- 2. Having the recieve speeds change when contacting different modem but the send
- speed staying 100% of the time at a relatively low 19.2k
-
- was typical or normal.
-
- I connect regularly with 4 different ISPs. They all use 28.8 modems. They are
- separated widely ( I do not think that any two of them use a common telco
- switch office. One of them has 60 modems in his pool. Mostly Supras and USR
- Courriers. I doubt if I consitently get a crippled MODEM. I find it difficult to
- think tha my modem just does not like ALL of the modems I connect to.
- Echos may always be worse in one direction, but one would think that the law of
- averages would come into play here.
-
- The only two things I can see from a logical standpoint are, iether my modem is
- screwed up or my local telco ESS has a permanently hosed set of all possible
- receive circuits.
-
- I just got this USR 33.6 sportster. I still have my 28.8 and I can return the
- new modem. I would really like to know if this problem might be the fault of the
- new modem. If so I can and will take it back. Unfortunately it has been so long
- since i checked the older modem that I am not sure whether it had the same
- problem. Is there any way to check the modem...something I could do?
-
- Any comments or advice are more than welcome...please
